Literate and unemployed? - A guide through the quagmire of paid reviews.
I know. I know. Every man and his dog has tried to make money online, even just to make ends meet. And yet for those in the know, it CAN be done, even when just trying to keep the wolf from the door.
So you've done it all. Freelancer, Adwords and the like. Now there's a little earner that I quite fancy and by the very nature of this blog, you can see that I have little conscience when it comes to thinking out of the box and even sometimes breaking the rules with the large corporates.
Believe me the rules are designed to enrich the large corporates and NOT you, the little guy. So when it comes to finding the loopholes, I'm all for it.
Recently I ran into a little of a financial snag and so I hunted for something to do online that would help us tread water, while I sorted out the difficulties I had.
SO here are some guidelines.
- Find yourself a reliable review source that pays per review.
- If you don't all already have one, open an Amazon account. The more Amazon accounts you have, the more reviews of the same book you can do. I run six Amazon accounts. Three each of an Amazon UK, and Amazon US account.
- Open a Goodreads account.
- Remember if your Amazon account has you based in the UK, it will NOT let you review books on the US site and vice versa.
- The way around this works like this:
- Use a different email address to register each new Amazon US account. You do NOT have to have a US address, just have one outside the UK. I use the address of a South African relative.
- You can buy Amazon US gift cards using your UK card and details on the Amazon US website and send the gift card to the email addresses you use for the Amazon US accounts. You then attach these gift cards to the account and use them to buy books that have been asked to buy and review. You do NOT need a credit card to buy digital books online with either Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk
- All my Amazon US review accounts buy books using Gift cards. I only buy and review digital books at Amazon.com.
- When you first start reviewing there is a bit of a delay because 48 hours have to lapse after purchasing a digital product before you can review any digital product, whether you bought it on Amazon or not. I advise getting started by buying at least one digital book on each of the different sites, even if it is a .50c book. Do it, the sooner its done, the sooner your reviews (whether as a verified purchaser or not), will get published and the sooner you can get earning.
- Once you're set up, ask the lead source to start sending you the reviews.
- Remember that all the reviews need to be slightly different, as Amazon will remove identical reviews that may be considered to be plagiarised. If you are an average typist, you can create five to six reviews in an hour.
- You can earn $70 to $100 a day for a few hours work, no travel overheads and within the working hours you want to dictate
- What are you waiting for?
